Eleuthera - "Isle of Freedom"
Located at its nearest point only a short 30 miles northeast of Nassau and 240 miles southeast of Miami, FL., Eleuthera is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful islands in The Bahamas. From north to south it is approximately 110 miles long and no more than 2 or 3 miles wide. The countryside consists of rolling hills and valleys studded with tranquil lakes and woodlands, in places strongly reminiscent of Scotland. The coasts alternate between high steep cliffs and flawless beaches with dramatic views of the turquoise seas. It is the birthplace of the first true democracy in the Western world. The roads are excellent and the island boasts three international airports.
